Sorry for the inconvenience..
you place your order on saturday.. and the production started on Monday..
It caused a few days delay also because of recently CPPCC(Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference), the custom clearance from HK is strict.
Hope you understand.

Disappointing express mail service 110262 Wasting money

I received update that my DHL shipment was shipped on Monday yet I waited 3 more days before DHL showed any update. When it did show something, it showed that the package was dropped off on Thursday!!!

Do you drop off packages daily or every 3 days. Last time I ordered PCB and have DHL deliver, it took only 8 days from order to delivery to my door. This time you are adding delay to every step. Yes, I submitted my order on your Saturday morning, but what about the other delays?!

Tell, me, what is the point of order express delivery service for $60 extra on 2/28/14 to see nothing at my door way today (3/13/14)? I will likely get it on next Monday! If I didn't need it urgently I would NOT buy the DHL!

I will never ever order express delivery. Just all the more ways to waste my money.

Music Shield 1.0 doesn't work.

I'm having a trouble playing a music with music shield 1.0. I can't compile or got an error when program is running with two examples, which are on wiki page. The arduino that i'm currently using is 1.0.5. The exact situations are followed as below.

demo 1. use sd library

C:\Users\admin\Desktop\Arduino 1.0.5\arduino-1.0.5\libraries\music_player/vs10xx.h:68: error: expected class-name before '{' token

Demo 2: Use Fat16 library

It compiles without an error. However, runtime error occurs.

error: Fat16::init

I have no idea why on earth this kind of errors occurs. Please help me... FYI, the sd card is 2gb.

DFU showing but unresponsive..SOLVED!

I am now getting something similar to this. DFU3.11C on a 2MB device from Windows 7 64 host.

I was doing a bit of re-organising and find that Pawn_011.hex won't load and in my case renaming it doesn't help.

Behaviour is that DFU disk comes up and shows as a 500K drive as normal. When I copy the file, I get the copying dialog which stays up doing nothing then eventually fails saying DFU device doesn't exist. DFU device is still on Explorer tree but now has properties saying it is 0 bytes capacity. Power cycling the DSO into DFU mode restores the capacity but the process repeats.

If I use Pawn_008.hex version then copying proceeds normally and works fine.

I checked the hex file contents and they both look similar structure address-wise.

It would be nice to check out DFU source to see what could trigger this behaviour but I don't think that is available, ...unless someone knows otherwise.

Well, it is supposed to work, I fixed it back in November Image

A better question is what problem you had with PAWN_011.HEX without renaming?

OK. Something totally and wholly bizarre...
I read that someone had managed to burn version 8 of QuadPawn to their 8 MB DSO quad without any problems except for the file issues si I tried that.
It worked but of course I couldn't load any .amx files into the USB that it would recognize.

Then on a whim I renamed the PAWN_011.HEX file to PAWN_008.HEX and it uploaded with no problems.

Hi again. Image
OK thanks to Alampert and others I now understand a little more about the Quad. Image
Ive now run into another problem though...
I want to put PAWN on slot 4 of my quad and try out Gabonator's nice looking FW.
I can get into DFU mode and it shows up on my PC (win7) as a 493KB FAT drive.
However, when I try to copy or drop the .HEX file into the drive (DFU_V312 C) it looks like it is copying but doesn't copy anything and then says the File (i.e. DFU drive) is no longer available...
Anyone have any fixes for this?

Should I format the drive? If I do, will I mess everything up?

Thanks again,
Steve.

DSO QUad running 2.72. 8MB.

Realtime MIDI with Music Shield v1.2

$

Ok I figured it out. Everything is there, no need to modify anything.
Musicplayer.cpp (from Music_shield library) has function midiDemoPlayer() which can play notes, change banks, etc.
It was just a matter of moving midi functions from private to public in MusicPlayer.h file and then calling them from your sketch...
For example:
Code:player.beginInMidiFmt();
player.midiWriteData(0xB0, 0x07, 120); // Set MIDI channel volume
player.midiWriteData(0xB0, 0, 0x00);  // Select bank GM1
player.midiWriteData(0xC0, 1, 0); // Select instrument (Piano)
player.midiNoteOn(0, 70, 127); // Play note (C4)
delay (1000);
player.midiNoteOff(0, 70, 127); // Stop playing note

So question is, in comparison table why does it say that Music Shield V1 doesn't support MIDI and V2 does? They actually both do Image

How can I modify Music Shield v1 to use it with MIDI over SPI? I mean it uses same processor as v2 so it should work. In fact I successfully used V2 library with V1 shield. Would cutting a trace to GPI01 do the trick?

V1 pin 23 PA0_T51, what does it do?

$

In the schematic of the DSO QUAD there is a signal "V1" coming from the pin 23 of U8 STM32F103. It is used to add an offset to the signal, by means of U17, before reaching the input of the ADC. Can someone say me if it is a static signal (fixed 0V or 2.8V) or a PWM signal (used to add a variable mean signal after the RC filter)? Can someone explain me where it is handled in the application software? I looked at the source code of the Gabonator and Wildcat applications but I coudn't find any reference to this signal, but I'm not a good expert of software.

I'm asking about this because I noticed a great variation of performances of the DSO QUAD when is powerd by the battery or by the USB. The input stage scheme looks to be well designed, with a good rejection to the power supply variations. I expect that most of the power supply dependancy is related to the variation of the V1 signal. So I'm tring to understand how it is used to try to improove the DSO QUAD performances.

DFU showing but unresponsive..SOLVED!

$

Yes, very strange.

In playing around with the hex I found another couple of things. I tended to get err files when the record length was less than 16 and it looked like maybe a buffer in the DFU is not being initialised properly and the checksum fails. If I preloaded with a hex with 16 00's or the 16 test bytes then it would pass even if I reduced the number of bytes in the record, but otherwise it would sometimes fail.

The other thing that I guess could be predicted is that it looks like overall blocks of records must be aligned on 2Kbyte boundaries. If not then the hex returns an err file. E.g. after a 04 address record the addresses should be 2K aligned. I think the flash is in 2k pages so the DFU will only deal with complete page updates.

Strange. I noticed some trouble when loading but for me it worked anyway.

Maybe I'll figure out a way to fix the HEX automatically sometime.. like align to 16 bytes or something.

DFU showing but unresponsive..SOLVED!

I've been playing around with the Pawn11 hex file, to find out what was triggering the load failure under DFU 3.11C. Behaviour might be different under DFU3.12

The loader was objecting to the split hex records at the end of the file.

Code::105D30004C20202020202020202020202020202037
:035D400020200020
:015D4300015E

So there is a normal 16 byte record followed by a 3 byte record, followed by a 1 byte record all at sequential addresses. For some reason the linking is causing the last 4 bytes to be split into 2 records.

If I combined the last two into a single 4 byte record like

Code::105D30004C20202020202020202020202020202037
:045D4000202000011E

Then it loaded fine.

I tested 1 byte records which worked fine, and also there is another example of a split hex record earlier in the file which doesn't trigger the problem. So it is some more subtle combination that triggers this behaviour in the loader.

Arch GPRS Kit discontinued

$

Hello

I see that Arch GPRS Kit has been discontinued. This device was perfect for me. I now there are alternatives, all of them with more memory and even better, but they are expensive. I'm developing a product with this device and its discontinuation is for me a big inconvenient. Are there alternative with similar features at a similar price? If not, and assuming finally developed my product, could request the manufacture of a batch of Arch GPRS exclusively for me? In this case, what will be the cost assuming an order of 20 units?

thanks
