Problem with arduino mega and xbee shield 2.0

you have just got a little problem, not all pins of mega can be used as software serial pins, refer to SoftwareSerial. So you need do some modification like this: Connect D4 to D10 then D5 to D11 by jumper wires, and don't forget to modify your program.
